What is your role in the business, and what are your main responsibilities?
I am an Account Manager at Kru and I’ve been in the role since 2021. Over the course of the last 2 years with Kru, I've had the privilege of working on a diverse range of projects and activations. Currently, I'm focused on overseeing one project, which is large scale, multiple location activation for Tails.com. My primary responsibilities revolve around ensuring the smooth execution of this campaign and results at each live activation.
Can you walk us through a typical day in your role, from the moment you arrive at work to when you leave?
We kick off the week with an all-company team meeting. During this meeting, we share insights from the weekend's activations and projects. It's a great opportunity to celebrate successes and identify areas for improvement, as well as assess team capacity and review where additional support is needed. I then connect with my Tails.com team to review the previous weekend's activations. We examine the event's success, discuss areas that have or haven’t worked and what we would like to implement at our next events. The rest of my day involves preparing for upcoming activations. We have teams out in cities across the country almost every weekend, and so my day-to-day revolves around securing permissions for event sites, coordinating our teams across multiple locations and ensuring that they are fully trained and ready to represent one of the UK's most beloved subscription dog food brands.
How do you prioritise your tasks and manage your time effectively?
Communication! Honestly, for me, the backbone to ensuring that my tasks and time are managed effectively, is to ensure that I am in constant communication with the rest of my team. This is a team project, and so, by consistently sharing insights, discussing successes and areas for improvement, we ensure everyone is aligned and working toward our common goals and ensures we respond promptly to the project's evolving needs.
What are the biggest challenges you face in your role, and how do you overcome them?
With over 700 staffing days in various locations so far across multiple sites, precision and strategic planning are essential. We plan for the unforeseen and mitigate issues before they arise. This is where research is key. The team invests significant effort into location research, including footfall, demographic, previous results, connectivity and adverse weather plans to ensure our presence is optimised, and our well-trained, knowledgeable, dog-loving field staff can do what they do best.
How do you collaborate with other team members or departments to achieve common goals?
Collaboration is at the core of our success in the Tails.com activation. We have a strong relationship with the Tails.com team, which is instrumental in achieving our goals. Whilst we all have our individual roles, if there is a problem or issue that arises, we attack it as a team by holding constructive discussions and coming up with effective solutions.
What do you enjoy most about your role, and what keeps you motivated?
I find it incredibly rewarding to see our teams in the field succeeding and love hearing the great feedback on our staff from both the customer experience team at Tails.com and mystery shop reports.
What advice would you give to someone who aspires to work in a similar role or industry?
For someone aspiring to work in a similar role or industry, my advice would be to understand that there are often challenging situations and rapidly changing circumstances where things can go wrong. In these moments, it's crucial to stay focused and work to find a solution. Instead of dwelling on the issue, channel your energy into identifying the solutions. The ability to adapt, think on your feet, and work effectively under pressure will serve you well!
