As Earth Month comes to a close, Ella Butler, the Kru Climate Champion, has taken a moment to reflect on the significance of our own ongoing commitment to sustainability. Earth Day, celebrated annually on April 22nd, serves as a reminder of the importance of environmental protection and conservation efforts. Throughout the month of April, individuals and organisations worldwide come together to raise awareness about environmental issues and take action to preserve our planet for future generations.
Ella explains: “At Kru Live, we embrace the principles of Earth Day not just in one month, but every day of the year. Our commitment to sustainability is ingrained in our company culture, and we strive to make a positive impact on the environment in everything we do. We believe in a future that is greener, better and stronger, and we're dedicated to achieving that vision through our actions.”
As proud members of Ecologi, a platform that helps businesses calculate their carbon footprint, reduce emissions, and fund climate projects, we are actively working to minimise our environmental impact. Through Ecologi, we have joined over 20,000 businesses in saving time and money with easy-to-use climate solutions. Since the beginning of 2023, our efforts have made a tangible impact on the environment.
Since joining Ecologi, we have planted 16,296 trees for reforestation projects and been involved in projects that have avoided 24 tonnes of CO2eq emissions, such as the distribution of fuel-efficient cookstoves in Uganda. These initiatives not only help reduce our carbon footprint but also contribute to global efforts to combat climate change and promote sustainable development.
In recognition of our sustainability initiatives, we are honoured to have received a silver award for our efforts. This prestigious award celebrates businesses that have measured their carbon footprint, set reduction targets, and funded global climate action. Sharing the silver award with esteemed companies like Mulberry and Hippo is a testament to the meaningful impact of our sustainability initiatives and our commitment to making a difference in the world.
"We are incredibly proud to support the important work of Ecologi, whose efforts have resulted in the planting of 80 million trees and the avoidance of 3 million tonnes of carbon to date. It's a privilege to contribute to such impactful climate projects. We are also delighted to have our sustainability efforts recognised with a silver award, highlighting our commitment to making a positive difference in the world." - Sarah-Jane Benham, CEO, Kru Live.
Ella is passionate about Kru’s ongoing commitment and explained: “As we look ahead, Kru Live remains steadfast in our dedication to sustainability. We will continue to implement innovative solutions, reduce our environmental footprint, and support initiatives that promote a healthier planet for all. Together, we truly believe that we can create a greener, better, faster, and stronger future for generations to come.”
