Lucy in Florida – Day 5

My first week is drawing to an end and has really flown by! I have learnt so much about Victory: their company history, internal processes, quality control and have certainly set a precedent for my take over sessions I will be hosting next week. Each and every team member has been incredibly welcoming and I really feel at home; thanks everyone for being so lovely to me throughout the week. This whole week has been really thought provoking and there are processes which work really well for the team that I can also see working well within our internal team if implemented. Certainly food for thought.

During the afternoon I met with Casey VP of Marketing for a Q and A session. Casey is so open and really energetic and it’s great to hear about his journey and how he started at Victory, which stemmed from being high school friends with Vinny back in the day and after gaining a huge amount of experience at other corporate companies, developed into a great partnership working together at Victory for the past few years. Casey is focused on communication and also currently the development of their app which will be live very soon; extremely exciting for the team and for their field staff!

For the last hour of the day the team set up a Happy Hour in the office; beer and snacks all around! Followed by dinner with Vinny and his adorable 5 year old son Joey, Casey and Laura and their two gorgeous kids Lucia and Nicholas and also Nicholle from the AM team. Hot topic of the evening was from Joey who now knows I am friends with Harry Potter back at home in England and how I too can also cast spells; thanks Vinny for letting out my secret haha. I will be sure to pass on Joeys’ pictures he drew for me to give to Harry…beyond cute!

Although I may have lucked out on the billion dollar jackpot on the Powerball earlier in the week, after buying a scratch card at a gas station with Casey after dinner I instantly won $100! It is safe to say I have never won anything on a scratch card and couldn’t believe my eyes. Great timing as this weekend I am heading over to Miami; best news ever!

Frankie in London – Day 5

My morning started with a swift awakening from the neighbours above, who I assume are roughly the size of the loveable ogres, Fiona and Shrek. Upon arrival to the office, I immediately jumped into my video journal entries with Sarah, explaining the conclusion of my first week here in beautiful London. Concluding the week behind camera took a little bit of time because I was able to see almost all of the landmarks that I had on my list in just three or four days (Big Ben, London Eye, etc.) In addition, I received incredible insight on the policies and procedures here at KruLive.

Following the video journals, I shadowed Hettie, from KruTalent, who took me through their database, explaining the eccentric acts and genres of entertainment that they book for their clients. In my first entry, I joked about Talent hiring javelin-swallowers but it turns out that sword-swallowers are actually floating around in their staff portal. Needless to say, I will definitely be a founding member of ‘VictoryTalent’ if our company starts booking more acts like this…

After shadowing Hettie for about 40 min, I then got to sit down with Ben – Kru’s Group Account Director. He went over many of his job duties which included overseeing account managers and developing existing business. When asked about his time here at Kru, Ben informed me that he has been here for eight years and had worked his way up from booker, to account manager, to Group Account director.

Much like Lucy, I feel as if I’m in a parallel universe considering many aspects of this company are similar if not the same as our operation over at Victory. These parallels range from booking procedure to office culture, to staff and client feedback procedures, etc. It really is rewarding to be a part of an exchange program such as this one because it makes you realize how similar many of us are – even 3,500+ miles apart.
